The Majesty Of The Lüneberg Organ, an album by Bach and Professor Michael Schneider, is a masterpiece of classical music. The album features some of Bach's most famous pieces, including the Prelude in C Major and the Fugue in G Major, performed on the majestic Lüneberg Organ.

The album is characterized by its rich, powerful sound, which is a testament to the skill of both Bach and Professor Schneider. The organ's deep, resonant tones evoke a sense of grandeur and majesty, transporting the listener to a world of beauty and wonder.

The performances on the album are flawless, with every note and phrase executed with precision and passion. About Bach, Professor Michael Schneider

Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany. A prolific German composer and organist, his sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments drew together the strands of the baroque genre and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Although he introduced no new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal technique, a control of harmonic and motivic organisation from the smallest to the largest scales, and the adaptation of rhythms and textures from abroad, particularly Italy and France. Many people consider him to be the greatest Baroque composer, and one of the greatest composers of all time. Revered for their intellectual depth, technical command and artistic beauty, J.S. Bach's works include the Brandenburg concertos, the keyboard suites and partitas, the Mass in B Minor, the St. Matthew Passion, The Musical Offering, The Art of Fugue and a large number of cantatas, of which about 220 survive. He died on July 28, 1750. Some of his sons also became composers - , , and .

This is popularly titled Toccata, Adagio and Fugue, as seen from the incipits in the BWV/Schmieder catalog for BWV 564, but the catalogue's official actual TITLE for the work is just Toccata. Unfortunately many music lovers ignorant of the proper naming nomenclature insist on falsely sticking "and Fugue" on the end of works like 565 & 582 that do not actually have a separate fugue entity, as the BWV/Schmieder catalog shows. It's interesting to see the various interpreters' ending of the Adagio before the fugue; some fortissimo, but perhaps most more reserved like beloved Dr. Schneider.

The first two records I had from Bach's organ music were by professor Michael Schneider. There are numerous great recordings of this and other works, but I always found Prof. Schneider's play superb, and the choice of registers, like in the adagio part, makes the music sound otherworldly. It's nice to finally put a face to the artist (my records didn't have any). Thank you very much for posting.
